GPS Fleet Tracking Expert Fights Terrorist Threats, Emergencies and Natural Disasters

GPS real time tracking is being used by the government as a tool to help prevent potential terrorist attacks or natural disasters. The California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) has brought in an expert in GPS fleet tracking & management solutions and mobile communications. Aaron Hamilton has been recognized as the Chief Technology Officer for GPS Logic, a prominent California technology company. The California Governor recognized the need for a strengthened alert system for major disasters and terrorist threats and the great advantages GPS technology could offer.

GPS Logic had developed the Logic 5000, a sophisticated mobile communication platform that allows medical, fire and law enforcement vehicles to deliver high-speed wireless data transmission from sensors. It delivers a multitude of data such as the presence of biological and radiological substances. The whole system usually involves integrating data with Automatic Vehicle Location and GPS mapping systems to allow real time coordination and assignment of mobile assets and responders.

Emergency response managers can view the emergency vehicles from rich textured maps and track their location and availability in real time. When an event breaks out, the closest and most appropriate vehicles can be immediately dispatched. The system has already been widely used by private enterprises and emergency responders and is spreading quickly to commercial enterprises and government agencies in California. They often use it to track their fleets and field personnel.

Former Appointments Secretary for the Governor, Richard Sarmiento, said, “This is a very important appointment by the governor. Aaron very may well be the foremost expert in GPS based fleet deployment and management technologies.” California may easily be leading the way for further involvement of GPS technologies in government.
